Aspen Events
One of the most popular downhill ski destinations in the United States, Aspen has four main ski areas: Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Snowmass. They are all run by the Aspen Ski Company and have interchangeable lift tickets and free shuttle service.
Aspen Mountain, known locally as Ajax, is for intermediate to experienced skiers only and has recently been opened to snowboarders. There are eight lifts, including the high-speed Silver Queen gondola.
Aspen Highlands has 115 trails and is located just north of town. This mountain offers slopes suitable for beginners to expert skiers with some excellent extreme skiing runs.
Buttermilk is a great ski slope for beginners and families, as well as snowboarders, with an excellent "learn to ski" program.
Snowmass is the tallest mountain at 12, 510 feet and has 84 trails served by 20 lifts. It is suitable for beginners through experts and snowboarders. Snowmass Village is a self-contained resort with condominiums, several restaurants, and the Snowmass Village Mall. It is located 10 miles from Aspen.
