There are a lot of great attractions in and around Atlanta to please every age group, from floating down the Chattahoochee River to watching an Atlanta Braves baseball game at Turner Field. Atlanta also has many historic sites that are well worth a visit. Since the metro area is so widespread, a car is advisable.
The Atlanta History Center features exhibitions of Atlanta's history along with thirty-three acres of period gardens. Also on the same property are the 1928 Swan House, the Tullie Smith Farm, and McElreath Hall.

Stone Mountain Park is located 16 miles east of downtown, Atlanta. Stone Mountain is the world's largest mountain of exposed granite and the world's largest high-relief carving - of Confederate heroes Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson, and Robert E. Lee - on the north face of the mountain. In the summer months, laser light shows, festivals, concerts, and fireworks are featured.
